Emerine Kabanshi

Emerine Kabanshi (born November 27, 1964 ) is a Zambian politician of the Patriotic Front (PF).

Life

Emerine Kabanshi worked as a livestock technologist after training in animal breeding and animal feeding. She was elected for the first time as a member of the National Assembly of Zambia in the 2011 elections as a candidate of the Patriotic Front (PF) and was re-elected in the election on August 11, 2016 and represents the constituency of Luapula .

In July 2012, she was appointed Minister for Tourism and the Arts and Minister for Local Government and Housing in his cabinet by President Michael Sata . In March 2014, she took over the post of Minister for Community Development, Maternal and Child Health. After Sata's death on October 28, 2014, she also retained this office in the cabinet of his acting successor Guy Scott and in the cabinet of Edgar Lungu , who took over the office of President on January 25, 2015. In August 2016, she initially left the government and was briefly backbencher . In the course of a government reshuffle, however, she was called back to the Lungu cabinet as Minister for Community Development and Social Services in September 2015.
