Emilio Aceval
Emilio Aceval (born October 16, 1853 in Asunción ; † April 15, 1931 ibid) was a Paraguayan politician and the 26th President of Paraguay from 1898 to 1902 .
Life
In his youth he fought in the Triple Alliance War and was wounded twice. He was educated and traveled extensively to Europe and the USA. He became director of the National Bank ( Banco Nacional del Paraguay ) and later Minister of War in the cabinet of President Juan Bautista Egusquiza .
Emilio Aceval campaigned for the poorer inhabitants of the country. He was a member of the Colorado Party and was one of the Egusquistas who, in contrast to the Caballeristas , advocated collaboration with the Liberals. His exact term of office ran from November 25, 1898 to January 9, 1902. His government was ended by the military coup of Juan Antonio Ezcurra and Fulgencio Moreno, who belonged to the Caballeristas .
His older brother was the diplomat Benjamin Aceval , who was foreign minister three times.
