Emma Faull

Emma Faull (* 1956 in England ) is a British bird artist . She paints watercolors .

Life

After studying art at St Hilda's College , Oxford, Faull spent five years at the British School at Athens .

Faull specializes in endangered bird species, including parrots, cranes, herons and birds of prey, the details of which she captures directly in the wild or in zoological gardens. Another focus is the bird life of Aldabra and the Seychelles , about which she offers workshops . She also paints water birds and British birds. From 1980 she designed 12 different porcelain plates from Wedgwood with motifs of endangered exotic birds of the rainforest, which are limited to a total of 50,000 pieces. The work was created in conjunction with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds . In 1992 she illustrated the book Endangered Birds by James Ferguson-Lees , in which she portrayed over 100 endangered bird species from the nine biogeographical regions of the world. In a book review of Endangered Birds in the journal British Birds , Faull's style was described as "decorative, impressive and, in some drawings, amazing". Sir Peter Markham Scott called her “an artist of great importance,” adding, “Her drawings are large, scientifically accurate, and exceedingly decorative. Here is a very exciting talent. "

Faull has exhibited her work in over 25 solo shows around the world. Her paintings are in many permanent collections, including the National Audubon Society in the United States, the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens, and over a dozen with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip . Since 1998 Faull has held successful exhibitions in the Rountree Tryon Galleries in London. She also works for the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust in Jersey. In Greece she gives drawing lessons every year.
