Emperipolesis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As emperipolesis or Emperipolese the receptacle or enclosure is, for example, lymphocytic cells referred to by other cells. In contrast to phagocytosis , the enveloped cells remain intact. In normal bone marrow, emperipoleses can occur in megakaryocytes , which can embrace other precursor cells of blood formation .

pathology

In Rosai-Dorfman disease , a rare disease from the group of histiocytoses , the occurrence of emperipoleses is characteristic: histologically , intact inflammatory cells can be detected in large histiocytes .

However, emperipoleses can also occur in other diseases: for example, in inflammation of the liver, emperipoleses can occur with intact lymphocytes in hepatocytes , including autoimmune hepatitis . Neutrophils and leukocytes can migrate through endothelial cells (transcellular migration, similar to leukodiapedesis ).
