goals and tasks

The EDR acts as the central, cross-border information and coordination point for all tasks. Since it was founded in 1977, the EDR has endeavored to make members on both sides of the border aware of common interests. In order to achieve this goal, one of the tasks of the EDR is to strengthen and promote contacts between the population and politics. This is intended to break down existing barriers between the countries. The EDR is also responsible for advising and supporting organizations, companies and citizens on German-Dutch matters and representing the interests of the border region and its members in national and international bodies. In addition, the tasks include the execution and implementation of the INTERREG IV A program of the EU. In order to realize these tasks, the EDR has financial means at its disposal, with which the wide range of tasks is covered. The financing of the activities is based on the contributions of the members, provinces and the European Union.
