The Emsbach is created by the confluence of the Finsternaubach and Gsohlbach above Hohenems . It flows through the center of Hohenems and flows a few meters below the L203 into the Rheintalbinnenkanal . Before the regulation of the Rhine and the creation of the melioration canals in the Rhine Valley, the Emsbach was a direct right tributary of the Rhine. Its catchment area is about 7.49 km². Its only backwater is the Salzbach coming from the Emsreute .
