Enciclopedia dell'Arte Antica, Classica e Orientale

The Enciclopedia dell'Arte Antica, Classica e Orientale (short: Enciclopedia dell'Arte Antica , abbreviated EAA ) is an Italian-language encyclopedia of ancient art and archeology. It includes all cultures of antiquity, classical antiquity and the Middle East .

The main work was published between 1958 and 1973. It was edited by Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli on behalf of the Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana . Giovanni Becatti was co-editor . From 1994 to 1997 a five-volume supplement was published, edited by Giovanni Pugliese Carratelli . Further accompanying volumes appeared until 2003.

The Enciclopedia dell'Arte Antica is a major reference work in the field of ancient art. With around 20,000 lemmas in a format of 24 × 31.5 cm with 20,000 illustrations and 1,300 plates, it offers a great wealth of material from the beginnings to the 6th century AD.
