The Hamburger EnergieAgentur was an institution of the Authority for Urban Development and Environment (BSU) in Hamburg .

With the coalition agreement between CDU and GAL from April 2008, the establishment of the Hamburg Energy Agency was agreed. The SPD parliamentary group had already requested this in 2007.

The Energy Agency was integrated into the BSU as a department and subordinated to the Energy Department in the Office for Nature and Resource Protection. In contrast to other energy agencies, it was independent of energy companies and did not have to assert itself on the market as a commercial enterprise. According to the resolution (Drucksache 19/2449) of the Hamburg Parliament, the tasks included :

  • the review and coordination of existing information and advice offers,
  • cooperation with other private and public institutions and stakeholders who provide information and advisory services,
  • the creation of concepts and programs with the aim of communicating climate protection-relevant topics and possibilities for energy saving to citizens more emphatically and
  • the planning and organization of campaigns and public events. The energy agency should have four posts. Just like the material resources required for the energy agency, it should be financed from the amount of 1 million euros each in 2009 and 2010 estimated for title 6800.685.01 (“Subsidy for the operation of an energy agency”).

The Hamburg Energy Agency had been active in the public domain since January 2010, although it was still being set up. The focus should be on advisory services for private households. A climate and energy hotline was set up in cooperation with the Hamburg consumer center . Questions on the subject of climate and energy were answered by energy consultants and climate experts.

Since March 2010 the agency has been operating under the name Hamea . In the legislative period of 2011 (Senate Olaf Scholz , without CDU and GAL) it no longer exists in its former form.
