María Clara González ( Diana Hoyos ) works as the head of the nurses in one of the most famous hospitals in the city: the Santa Rosa. Life seems to be smiling at him, if not the monotony his marriage to Román has become, with whom he has two children. On the day of her anniversary, María Clara makes the decision to win back her husband and reserves a hotel room to spend the night with him. However, Román suffers a heart attack on the spot and is taken to an emergency for medical attention. María Clara spends the night by his side. The next day, a woman named Paula comes with her young son and tells the nurse that it is Román's firstborn son. From then on, Maria Clara becomes increasingly disillusioned with her husband until she plans her divorce.
On the other hand, a young resident of internal medicine comes to the hospital, Doctor Carlos Pérez ( Sebastián Carvajal ), who immediately has a special relationship with María Clara and who later becomes more than a friend. However, their relationship is clouded by several obstacles when Maritza and Valeriano, Carlos' wife and father, respectively, figure out what is happening between them. In addition, María Clara's enmity with the boss Gloria, the resistance of her children to her new love, the turbulent business that is going on in the hospital on behalf of Manuel Castro ( Lucho Velasco ), its scientific director, and the appearance of a new person in Dr. Pérez's life will lead her life in different directions.
