The Enggano-Zwergohreule ( Otus enganensis ) is an owl from the genus of scops owl .

description

The very small owl reaches a length of 18 to 20 centimeters. The plumage is dark red-brown to olive-brown above with an indistinct neck band and a light shoulder band. The underside is yellowish to reddish brown with black lines on the shaft. The eyes are yellow, the feather ears yellow-brown and quite long, the beak is bluish horn-colored. The legs are feathered up to the base of the bluish gray toes, the claws are dark horn-colored.

Way of life

It lives in forests and woods, where it probably lives mainly on insects. The voice is hardly known.

distribution

The species lives endemically on the island of Enggano off the southwest coast of Sumatra .
