English for Beginners (TV show)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

English for Beginners is a German English language course in the form of a 51-part television series , which was produced in 1982 on behalf of Bavarian Television for the Telekolleg I, which led to the secondary school leaving certificate , and has since been broadcast as a repeat. The course is aimed at adult German-speaking viewers who want to learn English from scratch. The British author Graham Pascoe acts as the moderator of the programs and guides through the program in two languages. The two British actors Jane Egan and Russell Grant reenact everyday occurrences in short scenes, which are used to bring the viewer closer to English grammar and vocabulary at a beginner level . Accompanying books and DVDs with episodes 1 to 51 have been published for the series.
