Karl Leopold von Belderbusch

Karl Leopold Graf von Belderbusch , actually Heyden , (* 1749 in Montzen ; † January 26, 1826 in Paris ) was a statesman and political writer , nephew of the Elector of Cologne politician Caspar Anton von Belderbusch .

Life

Belderbusch was a member of the Von der Heyden family, called Belderbusch , and came from the Duchy of Limburg, not far from Aachen. The father was the Chamberlain Maximilian Wilhelm von der Heyden called Belderbusch. His mother was Johanna Ambrosina Countess von Satzenhofen.

Karl Leopold von Belderbusch was the Privy Councilor, court and government vice-president of the Cologne elector , then for several years his envoy to the French court. Expelled by the French Revolution, he first privatized on his estates near Aachen , u. a. Streversdorp Castle .

After the unification of Belgium with France, he was the envoy of the new provinces to Napoleon . This appointed him prefect of the Oise department . On February 5, 1810 he became a member of the Conservation Senate. Napoleon appointed him Comte de l'Empire in the same year . Four years later he voted for the deposition of Napoleon and received from King Louis XVIII. naturalization as a French. Since then he has lived in Paris and wrote several political brochures in French.
