Enrico Benzing

Enrico Benzing (born June 17, 1932 in Milan ) is an Italian engineer and journalist and son of the writer Mario Benzing .

Life

After studying engineering and aerodynamics , he wrote for the daily “ La Gazzetta dello Sport ” as the person responsible for the engine pages and reporter for the Formula 1 races . Since 1974 he has been writing for the daily newspaper " Il Giornale " founded by Indro Montanelli . He was the technical representative of the Italian motorcycle club on some motorcycle tours and he represented Italy from 1978 to 1980 in the technical commission of the FIA .

Benzing published twelve books, including monographs of several cars and scientific treatises on racing engine technology and aerodynamics; a treatise on the relationship between aerodynamics and performance in Formula 1; and a new illustrated commentary on the current Formula 1 regulations.

As an expert in aerodynamics, he designed many wings for racing cars, including for Formula 1. He developed a program to decipher the secret performance data of Formula 1 engines. Motor journalists trust his very precise information more than the information provided by the manufacturer.
