Enrique Bolaños Geyer

Enrique Bolaños Geyer (born May 13, 1928 in Masaya ) was President of the Republic of Nicaragua from 2002 to January 2007 . He is of Spanish-German descent. Daniel Ortega is the successor to the presidency .

Career

After studying in St. Louis , USA , Bolaños took over his parents' cotton business in 1952 and ran the company until 1977. After the Nicaraguan Revolution in 1979, he appeared against the Sandinista in the 1980s and was temporarily imprisoned. After he had contributed to Arnoldo Alemán's victory in 1995 as campaign manager of Alianza Liberal (AL) , he was vice president from 1996 to 2001. On November 4, 2001 he won the presidential election against Daniel Ortega of the FSLN for the Liberal Conservative Party Partido Liberal Constitucionalista ( PLC ) .

Bolaños was married to Lila Abaunza from 1949 until her death in 2008 . You have five children.
