Enrique Lessa

Enrique Lessa (* 1924 in Montevideo , Uruguay) is a Uruguayan writer and journalist .

Life

Lessa studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad de la República . At that faculty he later belonged to the Consejo Directivo during two phases . Lessa, who temporarily lived in Melo , worked as an architect from 1985 to 1990 in a managerial role as part of the MEVIR housing program in the Consejo Directivo Central de la Educación . He also worked as a secondary school teacher and, after starting out as a journalist, wrote for the weekly Marcha from 1981 to 1989 for the weekly La Democracia . He was also President of the Comisión del Patrimonio Histórico, Artístico y Cultural de la Nación .

Lessa only began writing at an advanced age. In 1992 he presented his work Quiebrayugos . For this he was part of the bank Caja General de Ahorro de Canarias with the Roman Prize Benito Pérez Armas ( Premio Benito Pérez Armas excellent). In the same year he also published De reojo: artículos y cuentos . In 1994, La urdimbre was published , for which he received the Prize for Unpublished Stories from the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture . With El largo viaje de Julián Recuero , he presented another literary work six years later.
