The ensemble Chapel Street in Hohenwart , a market town in the Upper Bavarian district Pfaffenhofen , is an architectural ensemble , under monument stands.

description

It includes the square-like extension in the northwest of Kapellenstrasse with its surrounding buildings. This extends in the west to the former fortifications of Hohenwart and is closed off by the Catholic parish church of the Annunciation with the attached gatehouse and the former infirmary.

The market town is closely connected to the former Benedictine monastery Hohenwart , founded in 1074 , in front of which a small settlement soon developed. This was probably destroyed in a fire and so from 1409 today's Hohenwart was built a little south, at the foot of the Klosterberg.

The street fronts in the area of the square-like expanded Kapellenstrasse are formed by one to two-storey saddle roof buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Different building widths, storeys and gable heights , the partly eaves and partly gable houses, give the impression of diversity.

The street scene is dominated by the parish church of the Annunciation with its tower from the first half of the 15th century.
