Johann Kroog (born September 1, 1877 in Rekum ( Blumenthal district (now part of the Bremen-Blumenthal district )); † May 20, 1947 in Bremen - Farge ) was a Bremen politician ( SPD ) and member of the Bremen citizenship .

Life

Kroog was a metal worker (lathe operator) and lived in Farge-Rekum Hohenesch 116 in 1938. During the revolution of 1918/19 he and others temporarily occupied the H. Dewers foundry in Rönnebeck . Together with the earthenware turner Heinrich Steffens from Farge for the SPD, and the bicycle dealer Friedrich Köster from Farge for the USPD, Kroog was one of the top candidates for the municipal council elections on March 2, 1919 (the SPD won 5 seats each in Rekum and Farge, the USPD in recum 4 and in Farge 3 seats, while the commoners won in recum 6 and in Farge 4 seats). From October 1, 1926 until his release on June 30, 1933, he was employed as community secretary for the community of Farge, under the then mayor Richard Taylor (non-party). In the last, unfree, imperial-wide local elections on March 12, 1933, Johann Kroog was elected to the local council for the SPD together with Dietrich Schwanewede (shipbuilder), Georg Stolte (roofer), Heinrich Greve (locksmith) and Otto Pommerening (blacksmith). Heinrich Umlauf (main teacher), Carl Braunschweiger (cattle dealer), Wilhelm van Dyk (writer) and Johann Dietrich Trüper (building contractor) were elected for the NSDAP. Theodor Michelsen (master painter), Gerhard Töllner (farmer) Fritz Beckmann (master baker) and Georg Mumme (woolen seeker) were selected for the list of 'civil unity'. The shipbuilder Wilhelm Faust and the worker Karl Meyer were elected for the KPD. Of the approximately 2000 eligible voters, 1621 people had voted; 546 (= 5 seats) voted for the SPD, 432 (= 4 seats) for the NSDAP, 423 (= 4 seats) for the list 'Bürgerliche Einheit' and 220 (= 2 seats) for the KPD. The KPD representatives were immediately excluded by the majority from the NSDAP and the Bürgerlicher Liste from the municipal council in the wake of the Reichstag fire on 27./28. February 1933 persecution of communists carried out by the Reich government. Kroog won a mandate in the district election that took place on March 12, 1933, but was prevented from perceiving it by the Nazi regime. After the SPD was banned on June 22, 1933, Kroog was dismissed as community secretary on June 30, 1933, and replaced on August 1, 1933 by Johannes Kühlke, NSDAP local group leader in Farge. From November 1946 to March 1947 Kroog was a member of the first elected Bremen citizenship and served in deputations of the citizenship. Hermann Boelmann (SPD) followed him in June 1947 as a member of parliament.

The Bergstrasse in Bremen-Farge was renamed Johann-Kroog-Strasse after him in the 1960s .
