The Enter ( proper spelling : ENTER ) is a museum for computers and consumer electronics in Solothurn , Switzerland . In addition to computers from 1950 onwards , it also exhibits mechanical and electronic calculating machines , exhibits from radio and television technology , sound recording and playback devices between 1860 and 1990, and telecommunications devices . The museum describes the number of computer systems still functioning as “probably unique in the world”.

history

The museum goes back to the collection of the entrepreneur Felix Kunz, who collected computers for 30 years. Some of the approximately 5000 objects were exhibited in the Lischerhof in Solothurn until 2011 , a former farmhouse whose area of 600 m 2 was too small for the presentation of the collection. In 2010 Kunz founded the ENTER foundation together with Monique and Peter Regenass. The collector Regenass contributed around 300 mechanical calculators to the collection. In December 2011 the museum was reopened in a former beverage depot at the Solothurn train station with an exhibition area of around 1,800 m 2 .
