German-French translation award

The Franco-German Translator Prize was a literary prize for German and French translators and for people in the Franco-German cultural sector who provided a special service for German and French literature. The prize, donated by the Baden-Baden spa and spa administration, was awarded every two years between 1976 and 1982 with a grant of DM 2,000 . The Franco-German Society of the place existed in 1976 for 20 years, that was the reason for this foundation.

Award winners

  • 1976: Carlo Schmid for his translation of oaks that one falls ( Antimémoires part II., La Corde et les souris and Oraisons funèbres ) by André Malraux
  • 1978: Marthe Robert for her French works on Franz Kafka , Sigmund Freud and Georg Christoph Lichtenberg
  • 1980: Gerhard Heller for his numerous German translations of French literature
  • 1982: Hans Hemmerling, a television presenter from Saarbrücken, for his research on French literature on German television
