Entomofauna

Scientific term

The name is derived from the Latin words "entomo-" and " fauna " for animal world. The name entomo- goes back to the Greek word εντομος (entomos) = "incised, notched" and the derived εντομον (entomon) = "insect". In this form it is also used, for example, to denote the science of insects, entomology , and numerous other terms.

In addition to the entomofauna, other animal groups in a region can also be recorded. named as avifauna ( birds ), ichtyofauna ( fish ) or herpetofauna ( reptiles / amphibians ).
