Inflammation parameters

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Inflammation parameter is a collective term for laboratory values that can indicate the presence of inflammation . These values are determined in the laboratory from a blood sample . It is difficult to derive the diagnosis of inflammation from a laboratory value alone ; there is no definite "inflammation value ".

Therefore, several different values are used for the assessment, the overall picture can then enable a diagnosis. These values include the erythrocyte sedimentation rate ( ESR or BKS ), CRP , interleukin-6 , alpha-2-globulin , procalcitonin and other acute phase proteins as well as the number of white blood cells ( leukocytes ).

Even if several values are included, a diagnosis is not possible simply by assessing the inflammation parameters, as there can be many causes for both increased and decreased values.
