Music style and lyrics

The music has its roots in the 1980s, but Envenom doesn't sound like the album was recorded in 1985. Mr. Stalhammar from the webzine Vae Solis describes the music as primitive, but well played and produced, and as a mixture of black metal and heavy metal . The singing is partly clear, partly guttural. The lyrics are about death and satanism .

reception

The Tales of the Macabre calls Envenom Sabbat's best album. It has “everything a real Black / Death Metaller needs, such as good riffs, bad vocals, rhythms for headbanging ”. Mr. Stalhammar described the lyrics and attitude as stupid, but praised the "quite impressive and occasionally exciting" music. The guttural vocals are acceptable, but the power metal- like clear vocals are unbearable. Watain's Erik Danielsson praised Envenom as the band's best work and Sabbat as "a great band that have actually managed to stay the same from the very beginning of not just the band but the entire black metal underground movement." The rock-hard magazine put the album on the list of "250 Black Metal Albums You Should Know".
