Enzo Maiorca

Enzo Maiorca (also Majorca ; born June 21, 1931 in Syracuse ; † November 13, 2016 ibid) was an Italian apnea diver and multiple world record holder.

Maiorca pioneered apnea diving in the 1960s and 1970s, setting 13 world records in the no-limit discipline between 1960 and 1974. In 1960 he was the first person to reach a depth of 50 meters.

Maiorcas life was together with that of Jacques Mayol inspiration for the film The Big Blue by Luc Besson .
