Lutsk eparchy

The Lutsk eparchy was an Orthodox eparchy from 1288 to 1596 and from 1923/1940 to 1945.

history

1288-1596

In 1288 it was detached from the Volyn eparchy . In 1303 it belonged to the Metropolitan Region of Galicia . In 1596, Bishop Kyrill signed the Union of Brest and joined the new United Church.

From 1623 to 1721 Orthodox bishops were appointed to Lutsk, but they had no real exercise of office and lived in Kiev or other places.

1923-1945

In 1923 a vicariate of Lutsk was established, and from 1940 to 1945 a Lutsk eparchy.
