Peremyschl Eparchy

The Peremyschl Eparchy (later Peremyschl and Sambor Eparchy ) was a diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church from 1219 to 1596.

In 1219 it was formed from a western part of the Volyn eparchy. It probably included the territory of the Principality of Peremyschl (later Przemyśler Land ) around Peremyschl (Przemyśl) and Sambor . Since 1303 it belonged to the metropolitan area of ​​Galicia .

In 1596, Bishop Michael did not join the new United Greek Catholic Church . After his death in 1610, no successor was appointed. From 1620 to 1692 three bishops were installed in Kiev, but without any practical exercise of office.
