Ephedros (sculptor)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ephedros ( ancient Greek Ἔϕεδρος ) was a Greek sculptor from Attica who lived around 340 BC. Was active in Lindos on Rhodes .

He is only known by the inscription on a marble statue base that was found on the Acropolis of Lindos and identifies him as a sculptor from Attica. The base was donated by the otherwise unknown Hagesistratos, son of Pythotimos. Two brackets on the top of the base show the bronze statue as a standing figure with a right leg in front; who she represented is unknown.
