Ephemeral Films: National Socialism in Austria

In the project Ephemeral Films: National Socialism in Austria , in English Ephemeral Films Project. Called National Socialism in Austria , around 50 short films from the Austrian Nazi era were collected and made available digitally.

Content of the films

Private amateur films as well as films with product advertising or political propaganda, ie films with usually only a short inventory and therefore “ ephemeral films”, were collected . Such films are intended to provide insights into life in National Socialist Austria . Every single picture of every film was linked with keywords so that you can now search for locations and events.

Institutions involved

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for History and Society (Vienna), the Austrian Film Museum (Vienna) and the US Holocaust Memorial Museum (Washington) cooperated in this project, which was carried out from 2011 to 2015 . The project was financed by the Austrian Future Fund , headed by Ingo Zechner and Michael Loebenstein .
