Epictitus
According to legend, Epictitus (also: Epitacius ; † in the 1st century?) Was an early Christian bishop and martyr in Galicia .
Epictitus is said to have worked as the first bishop in Tui . He suffered the martyrdom together with Basil, who is said to have been bishop in Braga as the successor of Peter von Council , and with an Aptonus. The events are dated to the 1st century, but it is doubtful whether Epictitus was a historical figure, since a church organization in Tui can only be proven in late antiquity.
Epictitus is venerated as a saint . His feast day is May 23rd .
