Équinoxe ( French for equinox or day and night are equally long ) is an instrumental concept album by French artist Jean-Michel Jarre . It encompasses a person's daily routine from early morning to late evening. The album was released in December 1978 by Disques Dreyfus in France and Polydor in the rest of the world. Similar to the previous album Oxygène from 1976, but now more geared towards rhythm, the album was a success, even if Oxygène could not reach the high international chart positions. The pieces of music Equinoxe Part V (1978) and Equinoxe Part IV (1979) were released as a single, both of which have music videos in which Jarre himself appears.
