Erasmus Grasser Prize
The Erasmus Grasser Prize was founded in 1993 by the state capital of Munich on the initiative of Reinhard Wieczorek, then advisor for work and economics . The prize, which is awarded annually, is endowed with 2,500 euros, can be divided among up to five winners and is awarded in cooperation with the Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria . It is named after Erasmus Grasser , creator of the city-famous Morisk dancers.
Selection criteria
With the award, the City of Munich honors outstanding achievements in the vocational training of young people. Munich craft businesses or their trainers can apply for the award. Alternatively, they can be suggested by the guilds or vocational schools. The applications are determined by a jury made up of equal numbers of representatives from the Chamber of Crafts and the City of Munich. Decisive for the success of an application are, among other things, the quality of the training, the number of people who have trained so far and the duration of the training. The work with disabled people, people with learning disabilities, young people from abroad and girls in male professions is particularly recognized.
ceremony
The award ceremony takes place annually in the ballroom of the Old Town Hall in Munich. Munich's Mayor Christine Strobl gives the laudation and presents the award winners with her award consisting of a certificate and a wooden morris dancer figure. November 12, 2012 marked the twentieth anniversary of the award ceremony.
