Hereditary burial place

The von Treskow-Friedrichsfelde family's hereditary burial site is a family cemetery that is now located on the grounds of the Berlin-Friedrichsfelde zoo and is a listed building. It has a floor area of 96 m² and was laid out in 1821 by Carl Sigismund von Treskow.

history

The family cemetery of those zu Treskow, the landowners of Friedrichsfelde , was laid out in 1821 by the progenitor of the Friedrichsfeld branch Carl von Treskow (1787-1846) with the grave for his son Leo von Treskow, who lived only a little more than three months (May 3, 1821 - August 26, 1821). Carl von Treskow acquired the Friedrichsfelde estate in 1816 and has since resided here with his wife Marie Julie von Treskow (1791–1852). He himself died in 1846 and, like his wife six years later, was buried in the family cemetery. His sons and grandchildren and their spouses also found their final resting place here, so that since the private burial site was closed in 1945 there have been fifteen graves. This also includes three memorials to memorials for members of the married family Graf von Lüttichau . Of the people buried in the complex, the landowner and district administrator of the Nieder-Barnim district , Sigismund von Treskow-Friedrichsfelde (1864–1945), and the director of Junkers Flugzeugwerke , Manfred von Sydow (1895–1943), should be mentioned.

Since the zoo was built, the hereditary burial site has been on its premises and is maintained by the zoo administration. A metal fence separates the cemetery from the rest of the zoo area, so that direct access for visitors is not possible.

On the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the Friedrichsfelde district and the 330th anniversary of Friedrichsfelde Palace , the grave complex was restored in 2015 and provided with a large information board.
