Ercole Banci , also Ercole de Banzi , Ercole da Bologna , Hercule de Banciis and Hercules Banciis , (recorded in Bologna from 1470 to 1531 ) was an Italian painter .

Ercole Banci is a successor to Lorenzo Costa and is most likely identical to the documentary painters Ercules depintore and Ercole da Bologna . Origin and career are unknown. Around 1505 he worked on the decoration of the Duchess of Ferrara's premises. At the same time he painted a votive picture for the Brotherhood of San Giacomo in Bologna. In 1506 he carried out extensive gilding work in the Castello of Ferrara . In 1518 he asked for permission to train an Ercole Toselli from Faenza as a painter. About the origin: Member of the Banzi family, de Banciis and possibly identical with Ercole Banci, who in 1512 "chiamato alla Renghiera per le revolutioni della citta (di Bologna)", such as Dolfi, Cronologia delle famiglie nobili di Bologna , 1670, p. 73 reported.

Only a few works can be assigned to Ercole Banci. On the basis of a few signed works, a few more pictures will be assigned to him today.
