Aardvark Arthur and Friends is a Canadian - US animated series that has been broadcast on the US broadcaster PBS since 1996 . Production began in 1994. The series is based on the books of the same name by Marc Brown .

action

The series revolves around the adventures of the young aardvark Arthur, which he experiences with his family and friends in Elwood (originally Elwood City ). Many of the episodes are set at Arthur's home or at school. The series deals with numerous topics of everyday life today.

Characters

Arthur

Arthur is an aardvark and the series title character. He wears glasses, a yellow sweater and blue jeans. Arthur is usually in a good mood and ready to have new experiences. He is also the owner of a dog.

Dora-Wilma

Dora-Wilma (originally Dora-Winifred or just DW ) is Arthur's little sister. She is four years old. Dora-Wilma knows how to annoy her big brother. She has an imaginary friend named Nadine.

Boris

Boris (originally Buster Baxter ) is a rabbit and Arthur's best friend. Boris' hobbies are television, reading (especially science fiction) and video games. His parents are divorced.
A spin-off series called Postcards from Buster also revolves around the rabbit .

Binky

Binky is a bulldog and one of Arthur's classmates. He looks scary to his classmates because of his looks, but is actually a sensitive boy. Binky is interested in classical music and ballet. Like many children, Binky is afraid of the dark.

Franziska

Franziska (originally Francine Frensky ) is Arthur's best friend. Often times she acts more like a boy than a girl. Franziska and her family are Jews and of Polish descent.

Charisma

Seasons 1 to 3 and 8 to 15 were completely broadcast in Germany. There is no German dubbed version for seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7, as well as for all specials (previously 5).
