Erebo Zunino , also known as Ereb Zunino , is a former Uruguayan soccer player .

Career

Midfielder Zunino, who ran up on the position of the right half , was at the beginning of his career in the early 1930s in ranks of the Libertad club from Canelones . After he had attracted attention there by his achievements, Nacional Montevideo made him an offer of 700 pesos for his contract signature, which he turned down.

Instead, he then played from 1932 to 1940 for the Club Atlético Peñarol in the Primera División . He was a member of the tribe from 1933 to 1940. In 1932 , 1935 , 1936 , 1937 and 1938 his club won the Uruguayan Championship. In 1941 he ended his career.

Zunino was described by the El País in August 1935 as a sober player with little physique and class, but who made up for this with extraordinary enthusiasm and steely will. He was nicknamed "El Cronómetro Humano" by the press.

National team

Zunino was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed twelve international matches between December 14, 1933 until his last assignment on February 12, 1939. He did not score an international goal. He was part of the Uruguayan squad at the South American Championships in 1935 and 1939 . Uruguay won the title in 1935. He took part in the Copa Juan Mignaburu with Uruguay in 1935 and 1936. He also played with Celeste at the Copa Hector Gomez in 1936.
