The Erfurter Verkehrsbetriebe AG (SWE EVAG) is a division of the Stadtwerke Erfurt , which is responsible for the implementation of the local public transport in the Thuringian capital Erfurt .
history
The history of the Erfurter Verkehrsbetriebe began in 1920 when the city of Erfurt acquired the majority of shares in the Erfurter Elektrische Straßenbahn AG and thereby initiated the municipalization of the formerly private company. The Erfurt tram existed since 1883 as a horse-drawn tram and from 1894 as an electric train. In 1925, the Erfurt transport company opened the first bus routes in the city.
The name of the company initially remained Erfurter Elektro Straßenbahn AG, before it was renamed to Erfurter Verkehrs-AG (EVAG) in 1938 . In 1951 the company was renamed VEB Erfurter Verkehrsbetriebe (EVB), which became the Erfurter Verkehrsbetriebe AG (EVAG) on April 24, 1990. On December 18, 1996, EVAG was incorporated into Stadtwerke Erfurt, which has been calling the company SWE EVAG since October 5, 2007 and incorporated it into the corporate design . At the same time, the Erfurt public transport company initiated the establishment of a passenger advisory board in the same year.
Transport offer
A meter-gauge tram network (the "Erfurt Stadtbahn"), a city bus network and still individual regional bus routes are operated. All six tram lines and city bus line 9 run Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. every 10 minutes ("Erfurt City Takt").
Between 1948 and 1975, the Erfurt public transport company also operated the Erfurt trolleybus .

Free WiFi has been available in all light rail vehicles since the end of 2016.
