The Stadtwerke Erfurt (SWE) are the regional supply and disposal of the city of Erfurt . The SWE focuses on supply, the environment, mobility, leisure and service.

history
"It all began with the decision of the Erfurt City Council on March 20, 1991 to bring together the services of general interest such as the supply of electricity, gas and water, disposal and local transport under the roof of the Erfurt Stadtwerke, 100% owned by the city."
It was then founded on April 16, 1991 in Erfurt. In 1992, the subsidiary "Stadtwerke Erfurt gas supply" was established, it was undertaken shortly after the transfer of the city of Erfurt , the task of the local waste management and cleaning services. From 1993 the Stadtwerke - Erfurt and the surrounding area supplied drinking water. In 1994 the electricity and district heating supply was transferred through the city.
Since then, the state capital Erfurt has been 100% shareholder.

Federal Garden Show (BUGA) 2021
In 2021 the Federal Horticultural Show will take place in Erfurt as a major national event. The Stadtwerke Erfurt Group was commissioned by the state capital of Erfurt with the planning, preparation, construction and implementation of the garden show. The specially founded subsidiary, the Bundesgartenschau Erfurt 2021 non-profit GmbH, is responsible for this. In addition to the Erfurt municipal utility, the shareholders are the DBG Deutsche Bundesgartenschaugesellschaft and the state capital Erfurt.
The BUGA 2021 covers the whole city, such as B. on the Petersberg, in the German Horticultural Museum or in the egapark.
Renewable energy
The SWE Energie GmbH has developed the Erfurt energy model that the use of renewable energy focused. So z. B. Power-to-Heat , solar thermal , Power-to-Gas , photovoltaics , electricity storage and wind turbines are used.
In the course of this, z. B. in Frienstedt, Schwerborn, Kerspleben, Töttleben or Möbisburg wind farms are built. The excess supply produced is fed into electricity storage.
Electromobility
Stadtwerke Erfurt covers a large area with charging stations for e-cars and eBikes. More than 20 car charging stations and 14 for bicycles are provided. When charging the cars for a fee, only natural electricity from renewable energies is used. The charging of the electric bikes is free.
Stadtwerke Erfurt also offers the installation of charging points for private use. Type 2 plugs are used here, which have a charging power of 11 kW.
The Erfurt Stadtbahnen also run 100% with electricity from ecological sources.
