Erhard Koppler

Erhard Koppler (born November 21, 1939 in Linz ) is a former Austrian trade union official, politician ( SPÖ ) and ironworker. From 1990 to 1999 he was a member of the National Council .

education and profession

Koppler attended elementary school between 1946 and 1950 and then secondary school until 1954. Then he learned the profession of electrician until 1958 and also attended the agricultural school. After Koppler had completed his military service from 1958 to 1959, he joined VÖEST in 1959 and worked in the hot rolling mill . He became involved as a member of the workers' works council from 1969 and was elected chairman of the central works council in 1987. Koppler was also chairman of the ARGE of works councils in the ÖIAG group from 1987 and chairman of the European works council of VOEST-ALPINE STAHL AG from 1996. In 2000, Koppler retired.

politics

In addition to his trade union activities, Koppler was already active as a member of the Chamber of Labor Upper Austria from 1974 and between 1982 and 1990 held the position of Vice President of the Upper Austria Chamber of Labor. In 1983 he was also elected a member of the district committee of the SPÖ Linz-Stadt and from 1987 was a member of the state committee of the SPÖ Upper Austria. In the union he held the office of chairman of the Metall-Bergbau-Energie Upper Austria union and vice- chairman of the Metall-Bergbau-Energie Austria union from 1988 , and since 1985 he has also been a member of the federal board of the ÖGB. Furthermore, in 1989 he was elected deputy chairman of the ÖGB of the state executive of Upper Austria. In the National Council, Koppler represented the SPÖ from June 22, 1990 to October 28, 1999.
