Erhard Kupfer (born January 24, 1882 in Schweinfurt ; died December 23, 1942 in Fürth ) was a German SPD politician and trade unionist.

Kupfer was a trained bricklayer. He was intensely involved in the union and the SPD. In 1909 he was elected chairman of the SPD Schweinfurt. He held this post until 1913. In 1909 he was also elected city councilor of Schweinfurt, which he remained until 1919. In 1911 he became an employee of the General German Trade Union Confederation in Nuremberg, for which he worked as a district secretary until May 1933. From 1928 to 1933 he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament . During this time he was a member of four committees and two intermediate committees.

During the Nazi era , Erhard Kupfer was persecuted for his political activities. He lost his job as a union secretary in May 1933 and was subsequently unable to find permanent employment. From May 4, 1933 to June 3, 1933, he was imprisoned in Nuremberg for political reasons. From there he was transferred to the Dachau concentration camp , from where he was released on February 19, 1934. In 1937 he was arrested again and remained in custody in Nuremberg from September 17 to December 4. The term of imprisonment severely damaged copper's health. He never fully recovered from his stay in Dachau concentration camp and died at the age of sixty.
