Eric Schneider (pianist)
Eric Schneider (* 1963 in Bergisches Land ) is a German pianist .
Life
Schneider, the youngest child in a family with four sons, received piano lessons for the first time at the age of five. He is the grandson of the German writer Albrecht Schaeffer , who emigrated to the USA in 1938. After attending grammar school, Schneider studied piano and mathematics at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne . After competition prizes and solo appearances, he devoted himself more to the song, studied song composition with Hartmut Höll and studied conducting with Rolf Reuter . The singers Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskauwere authoritative mentors. He also took acting classes and taught at various universities. There was an intensive collaboration with singers such as Christiane Oelze , Christine Schäfer , Stephan Genz , Matthias Goerne and Anna Prohaska . As a song pianist he can be heard worldwide. In 2009 he was appointed to teach the song repertoire at the Berlin University of the Arts .
