Eric Vierneisel

Eric Scott Vierneisel (born November 8,  1985 in Algonquin ) is a former American - German basketball player .

career

Vierneisel played basketball as a teenager at Jacobs High School in Algonquin, Illinois , then from 2004 to 2008 at the University of California-Berkeley . The two-meter-long winger made 110 games in four years, with an average of 3.8 points per encounter. During his college days, he had to deal with injuries several times.

The first stop in his career as a professional basketball player was the New Zealand team Taranaki Mountainairs. In the 2009/10 season Vierneisel was under contract with the German second division USC Heidelberg . In the summer break of 2010 he made the leap into the basketball league , Vierneisel was signed by the Düsseldorf Baskets . He played twelve games in the Bundesliga with the Rhinelander and scored 4.4 points per game. Vierneisel's best score in the Bundesliga was ten points against Alba Berlin in  mid-November 2010. In early November 2010, the winger moved from Düsseldorf to the second division club Science City Jena . He stayed in Jena until the end of the 2011/12 season.

In July 2012 he accepted an offer from the second division BG Karlsruhe  , in the final year of his professional career Vierneisel was a member of the third division Uni-Riesen Leipzig in 2013/14 and was a top performer there.

The political scientist went back to the United States, he worked for a company that helps young people to get athletic scholarships at US universities.
