Eric Wailes

Eric James Wailes is an American agricultural economist . He is a professor at the University of Arkansas .

Life

Wailes grew up on a farm in Colorado . He studied agricultural economics with a specialization in tropical agriculture at Cornell University ( BS , 1972) and then went to Ethiopia as a volunteer with the Peace Corps for two years . His Ph.D. he received from Michigan State University in 1983 . Since 1980 he has taught at the University of Arkansas.

Wailes conducts research on agricultural policy , trade and marketing , with a focus on the rice sector . Among other things, examined the effects of US and global agricultural policy on agriculture in Arkansas, the farm bill , the social acceptance and agricultural adoption of green genetic engineering , marketing of organic food , grain drying, storage and rice milling ; Arkansas Groundwater Loss and Water Quality , and the Regional and Global Rice Market.
