Erich Beckmann (technician)

Erich Adolf Georg Louis Beckmann (born February 4, 1874 in Hanover ; † January 2, 1945 ) was a German telecommunications engineer and university professor.

Life

After attending school, he studied in Hanover, became a qualified engineer in 1898 and then assistant at the Electrotechnical Institute of the Technical University of Hanover. In April 1901 he became a lecturer there, and on February 11, 1902 he received his doctorate in Hanover as Dr.-Ing. The subject of his dissertation was investigations into eddy current brakes and appeared in print in Hanover in 1903. His habilitation took place on December 10, 1907. After he worked from 1908 to 1920 as a research assistant at the Telephon- und Telegraphen-Werken Mix & Genest Aktiengesellschaft in Berlin , he was appointed associate professor in 1921 and full professor for electrical measurement technology in 1937 Telecommunication technology at the Technical University of Hanover. In 1925 he became head of the measurement technology laboratory, which later became the institute for electrical measurement technology and telecommunications technology.

In 1939 Erich Beckmann retired.
