Erich Miksch (born August 1, 1901 , † October 20, 1970 ) was General Director of the major Austrian bank Creditanstalt from 1959 to 1970 .

biography

Initially head of the CA's executive secretariat, Erich R. Miksch succeeded Josef Joham in 1959 as general director of what was then the largest bank in the country. Like Joham, he was somewhat reserved in public. After Joham's death, Miksch was appointed director of the board and then chairman of the board of the majority nationalized bank.

From 1959 Erich Miksch was Vice President, from 1963 President of the Vienna Stock Exchange Chamber .

Miksch, as a former NSDAP member after 1945 initially only worked for the CA on a consultant basis, was employed again in the bank soon after the war. At the time he was at the head of the institute, like his predecessor and successor, he was considered to be close to the ÖVP , but according to the testimony of contemporaries, he appeared less power-conscious than Joham. Under Miksch's leadership, the University of Vienna was able to acquire the valuable building site for its Juridicum from CA's real estate. Miksch retained Joham's cautious banking policy and his special focus on the bank's industrial group. Miksch died in office as a result of a heart attack. He was buried at the Baumgartner Friedhof . Heinrich Treichl was his successor .
