Erich Orthmann

Erich Orthmann (born August 17, 1894 in Solingen , † 1945 near Bad Saarow ) was a German conductor.

Orthmann was a student of Fritz Steinbach . He worked as a conductor in Barmen and Stettin and as general music director in Aachen and Düsseldorf. He made a number of recordings for the Berliner Rundfunk . From 1928 to 1930 he was general music director at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and then worked in the same function in Danzig. From 1935 to 1945 he was director of the Volksoper ( Theater des Westens ) in Berlin. In 1945 he committed suicide .
