Erik Hölzl

Erik Hölzl (* in the 20th century ) is an Austrian psychologist and professor of business psychology at the University of Cologne .

Career, research and teaching

Hölzl studied psychology for a diploma at the University of Vienna between 1987 and 1995 . He did a doctorate in 2000 , initially spending a semester abroad at the London School of Economics until February 1996 . Until 2006 he worked as a lecturer at the University of Vienna, where he received his habilitation in 2005 . He was then appointed associate professor. At the beginning of 2010 he accepted a call from the University of Cologne, where he took over the chair for economic and social psychology as a full professor .

Hölzl's research focuses on issues relating to economic decisions, the prediction of emotional reactions to future events and cognitive judgment errors.

Hölzl has been a member of the International Association for Research in Economic Psychology since 1997 , between 2001 and 2005 he was the official Austrian representative and between 2004 and 2008 a board member. Between 2016 and 2018, he succeeded Ellen Nyhus as President, and Rob Ranyard succeeded him in this role. From 2010 to 2015 he was also editor of the journal of Economic Psychology published by the organization together with Erich Kirchler .
