Memorial cross for the 1866 campaign (Saxony)

The commemorative cross for the 1866 campaign was donated by King Johann of Saxony on May 22, 1867 and awarded to all soldiers in the state who took part in the German war against Prussia in 1866 or who were part of the occupation of Königstein Fortress during this period .

The cross made of bronze shows the crowned and entwined letters JR (Johann Rex) surrounded by an oak wreath . The year 1866 is also enclosed by an oak wreath on the reverse .

Combatants received the award on a yellow ribbon with three light blue side stripes, non-combatants on a yellow ribbon with four light blue side stripes. The decoration was worn on the left side of the chest.
