history
Progas was founded on March 9, 1949 by trained bricklayer Heinz Goch in Dortmund and entered in the local commercial register. Shortly after the Second World War , the central energy supply has not yet been rebuilt across the board. Bottled gas is popular as an alternative, mobile source of energy. With two employees, Goch fills propane gas into bottles in a factory hall in Dortmund-Körne and delivers it to customers. One year later, Progas opens the first liquefied gas storage facility in Kassel .
In the years that followed, the company expanded its sales across Germany. The liquefied gas supplier is supported by around 4,000 selected companies from the HVAC trade, which sell liquefied gas on behalf of Progas and mark the beginning of the sales point model.
1964 Progas expands its product range and offers heating gas. This is transported directly to the customer by tanker truck and filled into stationary containers there. Deliveries are made via various forwarding agents , including the company Transgas , in which PROGAS is a partner.
In 1983, liquefied gas was first used as a vehicle fuel . At that time there were around 600 liquid gas filling stations in Germany. In the meantime (as of 2015) there are around 7,000 LPG filling stations nationwide, around 500 of which are supplied by Progas.
In 2000 Progas took over the liquid gas distribution for private customers from Deutsche Shell .
With the Progas biosfair product, the company will be the first German liquid gas supplier to offer climate-neutral liquid gas from 2011 . In 2016, Progas is expanding its climate neutrality to include the entire range of bottled gas. Since April 2018, Progas’s entire liquid gas range has been CO 2 -neutral.
