Erlöserbund , Latin Congregatio Salvatoris Mundi , was a German Roman Catholic religious order under episcopal law . The parent company was on Poppelsdorfer Allee in Bonn .

The goals of the congregation were the emancipation of women and the education of women. It operated kindergartens , household schools , students homes and ladies pens , financed by agricultural enterprises. In doing so, she gave women career prospects by enabling them to do vocational training or study.

history

The Erlöserbund was founded in 1916 by Else Mayer and Alexandra Bischoff . The order was, as it was a "secular" order, not dissolved during the Nazi era. He gave people around Konrad Adenauer refuge during this time. After the war, Else Mayer organized lecture and discussion events on the subject of women's emancipation at the parent company, which were also noticed in university and government circles and influenced legislation. The order was not recognized until 1956 by Joseph Cardinal Frings . The reason for the late recognition was probably the relatively progressive attitude. At that time it had about 150 members.

In 2005 the order was canceled due to a lack of young talent and converted into the Else Mayer Foundation. This continued the original purpose of the order and awarded the Else Mayer Prize from 2006 to 2018. The foundation dissolved in 2019 and transferred its assets to the Hildegardis Association . Since then, he has been granting Else Mayer loans to women studying.
