The Erlanger Left is a group of voters founded in Erlangen in February 2007 , which entered the Erlangen City Council for the first time in 2008 with 4.2% of the vote and thus with two representatives.

The association sees itself as a platform for “politically left-wing people” who “want to permanently create a strong left force in Erlangen”, who “want to fight and suppress the effects of neoliberal economic ideology on Erlangen” according to their own statements. "Instead, a democratic, social and environmentally sustainable policy should be implemented."

In July 2009, a city councilor resigned from the Green parliamentary group and joined the Erlangen Left, which was given parliamentary group status with three members.
