Erlau is a brand of the RUD Group. The brand emerged in 2018 from Erlau AG, which was founded in 1828, after the company had worked with the previous parent company RUD Ketten Rieger & Dietz GmbH u. Co. KG merged. With over 1500 employees in over 120 countries, the entire RUD Group achieves sales of over € 200 million. Under this brand are tire protection chains distributed and object body such as outdoor furniture, exercise equipment, mobile table beds and barrier-free facilities of sanitary facilities .
history
In 1828 the three citizens of Aalen, Betzler, Fürgang and Anderwerth, founded the wire drawing company “Betzler, Fürgang & Co.” on the “Erlen-Au” in Aalen. The wire was pulled jerkily through drawing plates with hand pliers and then reeled onto drums. In 1851, the first factory in southern Germany began producing chains. In 1870 the partnership was converted into a stock corporation, the Erlau AG, with an initial share capital of 250,000 guilders. With the Aalen municipal industrial railway , it soon got a direct connection to the railway network. In 1924, the company was one of the most important chain manufacturers in Germany with the first snow chains. In 1939/1940 a new factory hall with the most modern automatic chain welding machines was inaugurated. The acquisition of the competitor Pistor -kette, Wuppertal and the well-known chain manufacturer Hetz in Ettlingen followed. The result was the market premiere of the bar-ring system, which is important for anti-skid chains and tire protection chains.
From 1956 the production of garden and terrace furniture began. In 1972, at the design and ideas competition for the Olympic Park , Erlau AG developed the Olympia seating group program for the Summer Olympics in Munich . In 1988 Erlau AG became part of the RUD family group.
In 2003, Jörg Steffen Rieger, Johannes Rieger and Florian Rieger became the fifth generation to manage the company. Florian Rieger died in Romania in a traffic accident in 2004. In 2009 the last son, Benjamin T. Rieger, joined the company's management. By July 2010, the RUD Group invested € 3.5 million in a new, fully automated coating system as part of a capacity expansion. This system enables coating with the processes of vortex sintering and electrostatic powder coating .
In 2018 Erlau AG merged with RUD Ketten Rieger & Dietz GmbH u. Co. KG, of which the company was previously a subsidiary. Since then, Erlau has been a brand of the RUD Group.
Products
The Erlau brand is divided into three areas.
- RUD-Erlau tire protection chains
Tire protection chains are dense, flexible chain nets made of alloyed stainless steel. They serve to protect the tire treads and the tire flanks of earthmoving machines, which can be used in mining above ground and underground, in slag, quarries and in recycling.
- Erlau facility furnishing
In 2014, the two corporate divisions "Open space equipment" and "Barrier-free concepts" were merged into the "Object furnishings" division. The “outdoor facility” includes stable, weatherproof furniture for outdoor facilities, e.g. B. by municipalities, companies or transport companies. These include benches, seating groups, tables and chairs, loungers, waste bins, bicycle parking systems, bollards, planters, mobile table beds and exercise equipment.
The "interior furnishings" includes barrier-free products for sanitary areas. These include support and grab bar systems, shower seats, shower rails, shower handrails, shower curtain rails, bathtub entry aids and extensive bathroom accessories such as towel rails or various shelves. The products from the "Interior furnishing" area are used in private bathrooms and public sanitary facilities, be it in hospitals, nursing homes or swimming pools.
- Erlau subcontracting
With its fully automatic coating system, Erlau can whirl sinter, electrostatically coat and combine both processes.
